Independent Bookstore Day is a one-day national party that takes place at over 2000 indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April.

Ink Fish Books, a woman-owned independent bookstore with a passion for books, food, and culture, opened in 2018 and is honored to be hosting its eighth Independent Bookstore Day.

Stop by from 11 AM to 5 PM to join in the fun with exclusive indie bookstore items, free books, and the opportunity to search for the Golden Ticket with the winner receiving a free year of audiobook credits (12 credits) from Libro.fm.

Book Signing 1-3 PM

We’ll host a book signing from 1 to 3 PM with local author Kristin Offiler - The Housewarming Books will be available for purchase in store and online.

Food Pop-Up 12-5 PM

Also joining us is Empanada Assassin for a food pop-up.

Announcing the 2026 Rhode Island Independent Bookstore Passport Adventure

The Passport program invites readers across Rhode Island to visit a total of 20 independent bookstores across the state over the course of nine days, from Saturday April 18 through Sunday April 26. All customers who successfully complete a passport will receive twenty 20% off coupons, one for each participating store. One lucky participant will receive the grand prize: twenty $25 gift cards, one per store, for a total value of $500 in books, gifts, toys, home goods, and more.

Passports will be distributed at three anchor locations—Charter Books in Newport, Books on the Square in Providence, and Wakefield Books in Wakefield—starting on Saturday April 18. Participants will have nine days to visit all twenty participating stores and have their passports stamped at each one. Participants are not required to make purchases when visiting each store. Completed passports must be brought back to one of the three anchor locations by Sunday, April 26, to be eligible for prizes.
